PROGRAM APPLICATION
Application Instructions
Students at any U.S. or Canadian institution should apply directly
through the online
application system of the University of Wisconsin's Office
of International Academic Programs (IAP).
If you require more detailed information, please
contact the IAP office (106 Red Gym, 716 Langdon St., 608-265-6329,
peeradvisor@studyabroad.wisc.edu), or visit
their website. IAP's study abroad advisor for this program is Erica
Haas-Gallo.
All application forms are available at the online site, where you will be asked
to complete a standard application form (see link above), a supplemental form
specific to the TCS program (also
available here), and obtain a letter of recommendation
(also available here).
Before you get started, please read the Program
Information Packet, which contains important details on the course structure,
prerequisites, schedule, enrollment, and trip planning. All applicants
must read the program packet prior to applying -- it will answer many of your
questions!
All application materials are due by the First
Friday in October.

Students outside the U.S. and Canada should
apply directly to the Ceiba Foundation. Please contact
Ceiba for application
materials, and talk to your own study-abroad advisor about transfer
of credit.
The Universidad San Francisco de Quito, the Ecuadorian institution that hosts
the Tropical Conservation Semester, has academic exchange agreements with over
70 universities.

Application Prerequisites
Applicants to the Tropical Conservation Semester must meet the following prerequisites:
- 2.75 cumulative GPA, 3.0 in Biology coursework
- two semesters of college level Biology (including Botany, Zoology, Ecology,
etc.)
- one semester of college level Spanish
- 18 years of age
Acceptance and Enrollment
Notification of acceptance to the program will be mailed to you one
week after applications are received. If you are accepted to the course,
your acceptance packet will include the following enrollment materials and instructions
on how to enroll (available here):
1) Enrollment Form
2) Liability Release Waiver
3) Travel Itinerary Form
Early Applications
We understand that some students would like to settle their study
abroad arrangements before the standard deadlines. If you would like your application
reviewed early, you may submit a provisional
application form directly to Ceiba
at any time; in the case of exceptionally strong applications we will extend
to you an early acceptance. Please note that, if accepted early, you still
must complete the University of Wisconsin application procedure to be entered
formally into their system. If you have any questions about applying early, please
contact Ceiba.
